Mosques

The schools of the Islamic Educational College include two mosques; one of them is located in Jabal Amman and the other is in Jubaiha, which serves the people of the community surrounding them in addition to serving students, teachers, and the administrative and teaching the body of these schools. Some classes were dedicated to be given in the mosque where students, especially children, are brought to the mosque and they are taught the pillars of the Islamic religion, ablution (Wudu) and prayer, in addition to Quran memorizing and recitation.

The mosque of Jabal Amman was built on two phases; the first was carried out by Hajj Amr Ibn Ezzo Al Malabki or Ba’lbaki in 1370 AH./1950 AD., and the second was carried out by Hajj Hamza Malas and Sons in 1374 AH./1954 AD. This mosque played a major role and had clear impact not only on Jabal Amman region, but also on the Kingdom as whole; as the Jordanian Broadcasting Corporation used to broadcast from there the Friday prayers and sunset times during Ramadan, as well as recording a number of Quranic recitations for some of well-known readers at the level of the Arab World.

As for the Mosque located in Jubaiha, it was built at the expense of the Islamic Cultural Society in 1988 AD.

The Vocational workhouses

The Islamic Educational College schools in both venues (Jabal Amman & Jubaiha) are the only school in Jordan that has vocational workhouses with qualified vocational teachers. In order to give the students different vocational skills in accordance with the outcomes of the Ministry of Education’s policy to integrate vocational curricula with students’ real life.

In each venue, there are many training halls to teach carpentry, smithcraft, artificial drawing and electricity. These labs have the latest equipment according to the international standards to fulfill the school’s needs in training students.

Whenever there is a need, the vocational labs are responsible for maintenance work of wood and metal in the schools.

Theater

The Theater in the Islamic Educational College is provided with the most recent audio, visual and electronic devices that are essential for the educational process. The auditorium accommodates different types of activities, lectures and ceremonies held in the schools and it is also used by the local community.

The Scientific Laboratories

The Islamic Educational College has given the scientific laboratories the greatest attention and made them an integral part of the learning process. Believing in the importance of school-laboratory’s role to learn and refine the student’s personality as it plays a crucial role in enriching the teaching and learning process.

Also it facilitates learning scientific concepts by adding dimensions and unique experiences especially as the school keeps up with the technical developments. The schools have computerized scientific laboratories that integrate computers in teaching sciences. They are equipped with interactive software such as sensors.

There are a total of 20 laboratories in the IEC schools; chemistry, physics, biology, earth sciences laboratories. All have the latest scientific equipments, materials and tools necessary to conduct all tests. They are supervised by 12 lab technicians in both venues (Jabal Amman and Jubaiha).

Gym

The Gym / Jabal Amman, the only gym in the kingdom which works on the German system, was founded in 1997. The system is based on preventing light reflection on the players while doing exercises with the availability of adequate lighting without the use of electrical energy. The roof is in the form of pyramids so that the windows are almost hidden which allows adequate lighting with no direct light to the eyes of the players.

 The floor of the gym has been professionally made to provide all the conditions of security and safety for the players. A curtain divides it into two separate halls, each fully equipped for the use of male and female students separately preventing any kind of mixing.

The Gym is used by all sections of the various schools and programs (National, American and British) as well as for the events and activities of the Elementary School and the kindergarten.

The Gym is provided with all modern facilities of international standards, such as portable, fixed and dangling basketball boards. There are 3 officially authorized badminton courts, (3) volleyball Courts, and (6) Table Tennis Tables. In addition to that the gymnastics equipments and mattresses provide the highest standards of security and safety and the Iron Sports hall is available for training teams of the school. The Gym in Jubeiha was founded in 1998. It is well-equipped and provided with all facilities mentioned earlier in Jabal Amman’s Gym.

Medical Clinics

There are four clinics in the Islamic Educational College Schools in both venues in Jabal Amman and Jubaiha. In each clinic, there is a full-time doctor, a male nurse, a female nurse and a dentist working as a part-timer. The clinics aim to provide high quality health services for both students and staff in order to raise a healthy generation who adopts healthy habits in life.

Library

The Main Library of the Islamic Educational College was found in 1947. There are other seven branches on its venues in Jabal Amman & Jubaiha.

The mission of the library is to provide access to the information resources available to all students, teachers, staff, and to those interested from the local community. It instructs students on how to find, evaluate and use information.

The library acquires information resources which respond to the needs of students and teachers. These materials meet the goals and objectives of the curricula. The library collections consist of both print and non-print learning materials. There are around 71 thousand volumes of books in the libraries. The library is subscribed in 12 somnifere(link is external) periodicals Recognizing the potential role of technology in improving education, the main library provides access to the Internet through several workstations. The Internet allows students to access important information and communicate with others within the academic community. A collection of 385 CD-Rom is also available. Such a collection covers topics related to the curricula.

The collections are well-organized according to international standards. The Library uses Dewey Decimal Classification and Anglo-American Cataloging Rules. In order to provide easy and quick access to the bibliographic data and information, a bibliographic database (computerized catalogue) is available, using WINISIS, a software developed by UNESCO and Arabized by ALDOC in the Arab League.

The library provides information services to the users, such as circulation, current awareness, reference services, library instruction, and access to the internet. It provides assistance to the users to promote full utilization of all sources in order to facilitate the teaching/learning process. The Library seeks to instill a love of reading in all students.

The library collaborates with teachers to ensure that students have gained the necessary skills to use information sources.

The Library seizes every opportunity to serve the local community, in terms of the organization of workshops, book exhibitions, reading competitions… etc.

Transportation

Transportation Department was founded to achieve the mission and vision of the Islamic Educational College to be at the forefront of educational and leading institutions in terms of physical and technological capabilities to meet the needs of students and their parents.

    The school provided all the resources to meet this objective and in line with the students’ transportation regulations issued by the Jordanian traffic law.

   In order for this service to be of the highest levels, the Department of Transportation and the Department of buses maintenance applies the following:

  1. Appointing efficient and experienced drivers.
  2. Follow-up with bus maintenance periodically.
  3. Purchasing new buses each academic year.
  4. Follow-up with parents’ complaints.
  5. Providing buses for student activities during and after school hours.
  6. Hold meetings and training courses for drivers and bus escorts for professional development.
  7. Rewarding the ideal driver and bus escort.

Note that the number of school buses is (93) bus until the academic year 2017/2018 and (92) employees work in the Department.

Learning resources center

The Learning Resources center in both venues Jabal Amman and Jubaiha work to facilitate the learning process in order to achieve the learning outcomes through providing different services (technical & physical) for teachers and students. They also encouraged creativity, production and practicing technical and scientific hobbies by innovating different materials, equipments and teaching aids.

Playground and courts

The Islamic Educational College in both venues is equipped with:

  • Three soccer grass fields
  • Two air-conditioned gymnasiums
  • Outdoor playgrounds and fields for basketball and handball

All playgrounds, courts and fields are fully exploited by students for curricular and extracurricular activities.

Swimming pools

There are two swimming pools in the Islamic Educational College Schools in Jabal Amman:

  • The big pool is used by students from the first grade to the tenth grade. The pool is 128 meters.
  • The small pool is used by KG students. The pool is 12 meters.

Both pools are working on the overflow systems and are heated using solar system and boiler systems. Also they’re surrounded by underfloor heating system in addition to all the needed facilities like showers, changing rooms, and toilets.

School Canteen and cafeteria

The selected standard for children’s education, the most important of which are:

  1. Imitation sells soft drinks definitively in all school canteens.
  2. Prohibit the sale of ivory to students of grades 1 through 4.
  3. The girls’ school in Jabal Amman and Aljubeihah is subject to health accreditation laws – there may be a lot of reforms in these schools as they have won the golden level, and the school year 2018-2019 will begin.
  4. This sale of health items in our cafeterias such as potatoes, koshary, pasta, yogurt and many more.
