Community Service

At the Islamic Educational College (IEC), community service is more than just a graduation requirement, it's a cornerstone of developing compassionate, responsible, and engaged global citizens. Through volunteering, students gain a deeper understanding of their social environment and the importance of giving back to their communities.

What is Community Service?

Community service involves voluntary work performed by individuals or groups to support institutions or people based on their needs. At IEC, students engage in purposeful activities that make a real impact in diverse sectors of society, ranging from healthcare and education to environmental sustainability and social welfare.

Purpose of the Community Service Program

The community service initiative at IEC is designed to:

  • Encourage students to integrate into their communities beyond the academic setting.
  • Develop social awareness and empathy through real-world experiences.
  • Foster leadership, responsibility, and civic engagement.
  • Support students in meeting university application requirements, especially for institutions that prioritize community involvement.

Graduation Requirement

One of the key graduation requirements for students enrolled in the national and international programs at IEC is the completion of at least 60 hours of community service throughout their high school years (Grades 9–12). Students have the flexibility to complete these hours during the academic year or over the summer break.

After completing their service, students must submit official proof of their volunteer hours from the organization.

Where Can Students Volunteer?

IEC partners with a range of approved organizations and platforms, including:

  1. Tkiyet Um Ali
  2. Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization
  3. NAHNO Platform
  4. The King Hussein Cancer Foundation
  5. The Children's Museum
  6. بادر وساهم
  7. Jordanian Volunteer Program
  8. SOS Children's Villages, Jordan

These partnerships provide diverse opportunities for students to contribute in meaningful and impactful ways.

Results and Impact

Over the past three years, high school students at IEC have collectively completed approximately 1,800 hours of community service across various sectors.
